About the California Wireless Association

Our primary mission is to raise awareness of the benefits of, and to promote, the wireless industry, to educate the public and our political leaders on issues of importance to the wireless industry, to support the industry in the rapid deployment of wireless technology and services, to voice a unified industry message on wireless issues and emerging technology, and to cultivate and nurture working relationships within the industry and between the industry and the public and our political leaders.

COMMITTEES

The Association's committees have been charged with the following roles

Steering

(Typically comprised of carrier representatives)

  • Provide strategic direction for the ongoing efforts of the association

Regulatory

  • Monitor, shape, and impact regulatory and legislative issues on a local, regional, and state level
  • Organize discussions with planning, zoning, and other governmental officials
  • Organize grassroots efforts to shape public officials opinions
  • Provide updates on wireless regulation and legislation to the association web master for publication on the Web site

Education

  • Educate members and public officials regarding issues of importance to the industry.
  • Plan and produce educational sessions and workshops.

Public Relations

  • Promote positive awareness of the wireless industry to communities, public officials, homeowners groups, and others
  • Improve communications and contacts between companies, individuals, and sectors within the states wireless industry
  • Develop and deliver presentations about the benefits of the wireless industry within the state
  • General media relations activities, including but not limited to publicizing the Associations charitable activities and providing information to journalists regarding the associations positions on regulatory and/or legislative issues.

Membership

  • Create, maintain, and distribute a membership directory
  • Recruit new members

Social

  • Schedule meetings and special events
  • Work with the Membership/PR Committee to inform members of those events
